What is the Life Path Number?

The Life Path Number is the single most important number in Pythagorean numerology. It is drawn from your full date of birth and describes the central theme of your life: the lessons you return to, the strengths that come naturally, and the direction your growth tends to take. It is calculated by reducing the day, the month, and the year separately, then adding those three results and reducing once more. Master numbers are not reduced to a single digit. An 11 is not simplified to 2, a 22 is not simplified to 4, and a 33 is not simplified to 6. They are kept whole because they carry the qualities of their base number at a higher and more demanding pitch. A Life Path 11 holds the cooperative nature of 2 along with a charge of intuition and visibility that asks more of the person who carries it, and the same logic applies to 22 over 4 and 33 over 6.

How the calculation works

1. Write the full birth date in DD/MM/YYYY format.
2. Reduce the day to a single digit, keeping it as 11 or 22 if it reduces to a master number.
3. Reduce the month to a single digit, keeping it as 11 if the month is November.
4. Add the four digits of the year, then reduce that sum to a single digit or master number.
5. Add the three reduced values together.
6. Reduce the total to a single digit, stopping if you reach 11, 22, or 33.

How to interpret your Life Path Number

Your Life Path Number describes the terrain of the journey, not a fixed destination. It does not tell you what will happen. It points to the kind of challenges and gifts you are likely to meet again and again, often in different forms at different ages.
