Daily Vedic Verse

One verse a day from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Yoga Sutras, the Rigveda, the Thirukkural, and the Dhammapada. The verse is the same for every visitor on the same calendar day — like a daily mala bead the world is reading together.

On reading sacred text

The traditional way of reading scripture is not the way most modern reading happens. The verses here are not meant to be consumed in a few seconds and then forgotten. They are meant to be read slowly, ideally aloud at least once, and then carried into the day to be remembered against the situations the day brings.

The 108-verse collection cycles roughly every three and a half months. A verse that lands on you today and again later will land in a deeper place each time. Some practitioners memorize one verse a week and let the words become part of the inner background. Others simply read the day\'s verse with their morning tea and leave it there. Both are real practice.
