The Sun
Major Arcana · XIX
Upright Meaning
The Sun is the card of clear, uncomplicated joy — the kind that does not require explanation or justification. A child dances before the sun, fully present, fully alive. This is vitality, clarity, success, and the simple warmth of being genuinely glad to be alive. When this card appears, something is going well — or is about to. The invitation is to let yourself feel it fully, without immediately bracing for what comes after.
Reversed Meaning
The reversed Sun may indicate a joy that is being dimmed — by self-doubt, by difficulty accessing genuine gladness, or by a tendency toward pessimism that prevents the full experience of what is actually going well.
Guidance
“Let this be enough. The goodness that is present right now does not need to be immediately balanced by worry about what might go wrong. Be here. Be glad.”
