About the Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is the seat of pleasure, creativity, and emotional fluidity, located in the lower abdomen and pelvic basin. Svadhisthana governs how you relate to desire, sensuality, and the flow of feeling through the body. A balanced Sacral lets emotion move through you without flooding or freezing, and lets pleasure arrive without guilt; a blocked one numbs feeling, suppresses creative impulse, and turns intimacy into either dissolution or distance. This is the chakra where the river of life is felt directly — and where it can also be dammed.

Healing Practices
- Yoga:Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle), Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge), and Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (Pigeon). Hold each pose for 2 to 5 minutes to release stored emotion in the hips.
- Pranayama:Sitali (cooling breath). Curl the tongue, inhale through the mouth, exhale through the nose, for 5 minutes. This softens emotional intensity and opens the pelvic basin.
- Meditation:visualize an orange six-petaled lotus at the lower abdomen, with cool clear water flowing through the pelvis, dissolving any blockage.
- Sound:chant the bija mantra VAM 108 times. Feel the vibration in the lower belly and pelvic bowl.
- Lifestyle:spend time in or near water daily (bath, swim, river, ocean). Move the hips daily through dance, ecstatic movement, or hip-opening yoga.
- Diet:orange foods (orange, mango, sweet potato, carrot, papaya), seeds (pumpkin, sesame, flax), pure water, coconut water, and warming spices like cardamom and cinnamon.

Sit comfortably with one hand resting just below the navel. Chant VAM on a gentle exhale, letting the sound soften the lower belly. Repeat 108 times.
